Mayesh Design Star Workshop in Columbus, Ohio
It’s no secret that I’m a big fan of flower workshops. Aside from being able to learn from designers that I respect and admire, workshops also give me the opportunity to focus on my business from a different perspective. I’m able to step outside of the busyness of wedding season and spend some time reflecting on where my business is and where I want it to be. I’m able to get in a different mindset when I’m out of the studio and out of my routine.
Last November, I drove up a little north of Columbus at 30 weeks pregnant to attend Mayesh’s Design Star Workshop with Shean Strong. This workshop was my last night away before sweet baby Thomas was born in January.
The workshop was fantastic. It was held at Magnolia Hill Farm - a beautiful wedding venue in Central Ohio. We were able to design with truly gorgeous flowers brought in by Mayesh and I loved learning more technical designs from Shean. It was a cold, snowy day that ended up being the perfect backdrop for these amazing photos by Nicole Clarey.
It’s really so nice (and important!) to be able to occasionally design for yourself and not based on a specific wedding plan or timeline. Playing with flowers is like a little bit of therapy for me. I’m grateful to be able to attend workshops and have the time and space to learn, play and create.
