Surprise wedding at Hotel Covington
They did it! Katie and Branden pulled off a surprise wedding at Hotel Covington!
Their guests thought they were at an engagement party and mid-way through Katie and Branden let the secret out - they were actually at their wedding! The evening started downstairs in the Eva. G Farris ballroom and then everyone came upstairs to a full wedding ceremony in Scheper Dining Room.
This was such a fun wedding to work with Katie on. She wanted a big statement for the ceremony and I was all on board. Sometimes couples don’t focus on the ceremony florals because the actual time spent there can be so short, but it ends up being one of the most photographed moments of the entire wedding. It’s a great spot to create a focal flower moment. And it’s perfect for formal photos after the ceremony.
For Katie and Branden, we created two vignettes of modern white acrylic columns decorated with lush spring blooms in low ceramic vessels, and accent candle touches. I loved incorporating some of the great seasonal blooms available in March - butterfly ranunculus, Japanese ranunculus, sweet pea, spirea, and tulips. I can’t say no to a good spring flower.
We complimented the lush backdrop with a sophisticated and petite bouquet for Katie. I love a smaller style bouquet when the occasion calls for it. Sometimes less is more.
Kortni and Chris captured all the details of the day beautifully.
Big ups to Katie and Branden for pulling off this surprise! Cheers to not having to keep the secret anymore. :)
